Collection: Gas Springs

Gas springs (gas struts) for industrial and commercial use in four types: gas springs with threaded ends, gas springs with welded eyes, traction gas springs and lockable gas springs. They give a controlled, dampened force over the whole stroke for lids, hatches, panels, seating and machine covers. Choose a type with the cards below to filter the range, use the gas spring configurator or ask Springy. All gas springs are listed with full technical data. Contact us if you need a custom solution.

How to Choose the Right Gas Spring

1
Extended length & stroke

Measure the distance between mounting points when fully open (extended length) and the piston rod travel between the retracted and extended positions (stroke).

2
Required force

The force depends on the weight, centre of gravity, lever arm and number of gas springs. The required force must be calculated from your full installation geometry. Our configurator helps you find the right spring once you know it.

3
Connection type

The end fitting type determines how the gas spring connects to your structure. Available types: ball joints, ball sockets, clevis ends, end bearings, extension rods, eye ends and axial joints. All are added separately.

4
Installation conditions

Install with the piston rod pointing downward where possible, as this keeps the internal oil near the seal. Keep the rod clean and free from damage.

Gas Spring Types

Standard gas springs extend the piston rod automatically and support lifting. Traction gas springs pull the rod inward and are used where a pulling force is needed. Lockable gas springs can be locked in any position and are released with a pin, lever or Bowden cable.

End Fittings & Mounting

Available end fittings: ball joints, ball sockets, clevis ends, end bearings, extension rods, eye ends and axial joints. Ball joints and axial joints compensate for small angular misalignments during movement. Fittings attach directly to flaps, frames and housings.

Safety

Gas springs are pressurised components. Never open, drill, heat or mechanically modify them. Replace any spring with significant force loss or visible leakage. Recycle defective gas springs correctly as they contain gas and oil.
