Volume discounts apply from 6 pieces on springs and from 4 pieces on standard gas springs (11 pieces on traction gas springs and gas springs with welded eyes); the steps are shown on each product page. New customers get 10% off their first order when they create an account. For recurring or contract orders, contact us to discuss what we can do.
Yes. Single-piece orders are welcome on all standard stock items. For custom springs, we can discuss a sample run. Ask Springy or contact us with your specifications.
Spring types
It depends on the movement and the space. Compression springs push and extension springs pull, both in a straight line. Torsion springs work by rotation. Die springs carry high loads in press tools and dies. Disc springs give very high force over a short travel, and wave springs save axial installation height. Gas springs give a controlled force for lids, flaps and hatches. Our free tools help you size compression, disc and gas springs.
See all tools →The colour shows the load class, but it differs between series. ISO 10243: green light, blue medium, red heavy, yellow extra heavy; ISO D adds light green (extra light) and grey (ultra heavy). Raymond NAAMS: blue medium, red medium-heavy, bronze heavy, green extra heavy. The colours are not interchangeable between Raymond and ISO, so always choose by series and specifications, not by colour alone.
Browse die springs →N series: fixed force, black tube, nitrided rod. V series: like N but with a valve, so the force can be reduced on site. S series: fixed force in stainless steel AISI 316 for marine, food, medical and chemical environments. X series: stainless steel with a valve. N and S springs are filled to the ordered force at the factory and cannot be adjusted, so choose V or X if you are unsure of the force. The force can be reduced but never increased.
Open the gas spring configurator →Standard gas springs extend the rod and support lifting, the standard choice for lids and flaps. Traction gas springs pull the rod in, for downward-opening flaps, hatches and ramps. Lockable gas springs can be held in any position and are released with a lever or a Bowden cable. Welded eye gas springs have eyes welded on instead of threads, so no end fittings are needed.
Open the gas spring configurator →No, lockable gas springs are sold without one. Choose a lever release or a Bowden cable release (M10) in the end fittings collection. The release system screws onto the piston rod and also serves as the mounting point at the rod end. The gas spring configurator suggests the right one.
Browse end fittings →The thread of the end fitting (M4, M6, M8 or M10) must match the thread of the gas spring. The length R of the fittings at both ends adds to the installed length. In the gas spring configurator you choose a fitting for each end, see the total length and add everything to the cart as a set.
Open the gas spring configurator →Discs stacked in the same direction (in parallel) multiply the force while the travel stays that of one disc. Discs stacked in alternating directions (in series) multiply the travel at the same force. Combining both gives more force and more travel. The disc spring stack calculator finds springs and stacks for your required force and length.
Open the disc spring stack calculator →A wave spring washer is a single stamped ring for short travel, axial play compensation and bearing preload. A wave spring has several connected turns of flat strip, giving more travel than a washer and often a lower installation height than a helical compression spring. Both are in the wave springs collection.

AxiSpring has over 16,000 standard springs online: compression, extension, torsion, die, disc, wave and gas springs, plus end fittings, all with full technical data and prices directly in the web shop. We also have access to around 40 million parts in stock. We deliver to Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland in 2 to 4 business days. If no standard spring fits, we make custom springs.
d = wire diameter (mm) · Do = outer diameter (mm) · L0 = free length, the unloaded length (mm) · L1 = loaded length (mm) · F1 = force at L1 (N) · n = number of active coils · R = spring rate, the force per mm of compression (N/mm). Die, disc, wave and gas springs and end fittings have their own symbols, explained next to each table.
Compression and extension springs come in spring steel (EN 10270-1 SH) or stainless steel 1.4310. Disc springs come in Ck75/Ck67, chrome vanadium 51CrV4 or stainless steel, and gas springs in steel or stainless steel. The material is shown on each product page and can be used as a filter in every table.
Yes, our standard springs are RoHS compliant. Material certificates are available on request. Contact us with the SKU and your requirements.
Contact us →Most compression springs conform to EN 15800 tolerances; some ranges are made to a factory standard. Disc springs are made to or similar to EN 16983 (DIN 2093), and die springs follow ISO 10243 or Raymond NAAMS. The tolerance class or standard is shown on each product page.
Technical
Use our compression spring calculator: find a stock spring from your installation space, lengths and forces, or design a spring to EN 13906-1. You can also ask Springy (the chat bubble in the bottom right): describe what you need and it will guide you.
Open the compression spring calculator →Spring rate is the force needed to compress the spring by 1 mm, in N/mm. It is calculated as R = G·d⁴ / (8·Dm³·n), where G is the shear modulus of the material, d the wire diameter, Dm the mean coil diameter and n the number of active coils. The calculator does this automatically.
Open the compression spring calculator →Buckling is when a spring bends sideways under load instead of compressing straight. The risk increases when the free length divided by the mean diameter (L0 / Dm) exceeds about 2.6. The calculator flags this automatically. If your spring is at risk, add a guide rod or tube, or choose a shorter or wider spring.
Open the compression spring calculator →Closed and ground ends have the last coil pressed flat against the next coil and ground, giving a flat, stable bearing surface. This is the standard for precision applications. Open ends leave a gap and are less common in engineered assemblies.
Use the gas spring configurator: choose type, length, stroke, force and end fittings and see matching gas springs. For lids, flaps and hatches, the lid and flap calculator works out the force and mounting points from the size and weight of the lid.
