Collection: Compression Springs

Compression springs (coil springs) in more than 8,000 standard sizes: wire diameter d 0.1 to 6.3 mm, outer diameter Do 0.6 to 115 mm and free length L0 1 to 800 mm, in spring steel and stainless steel. Every spring is listed with full technical data and a PDF datasheet, and CAD files are available on request.

Filter the table on d, Do and L0, use the spring calculator or ask Springy to find the right spring. Contact us for questions or custom springs.

How to Choose a Compression Spring

1
Installation space

Measure the available bore diameter if the spring sits inside a sleeve (use Do), or the shaft diameter if it runs over a rod (use Di). Also note the maximum available free length.

2
Spring travel and forces

Determine the required spring travel and forces at the operating positions. The test length L1 and test force F1 in the table are good starting points.

3
Type of loading

Springs under frequent dynamic cycling must be loaded more conservatively than springs under mainly static load. Stroke frequency, preload and lateral guidance all affect service life.

4
Material

Spring steel 1.1200 suits most dry standard applications. Stainless steel 1.4310 is recommended for humid or corrosive environments.

Materials & Surface Finish

1.1200 – Spring Steel
Economical and suitable for dry standard applications. Springs are supplied oiled. Operating temperature −40 to +80 °C.

1.4310 – Stainless Steel
Corrosion-resistant, suitable for damp, marine and mildly chemical environments. Springs are supplied dry with a bright finish. Operating temperature −200 to +250 °C.

End Design & Winding Direction

In the standard range, springs with a wire diameter of 0.50 mm or more have closed and ground ends, which provide a flat seating surface and more uniform force transmission. All springs are right-hand coiled.

Tolerances

Most springs in the range conform to EN 15800. Some product ranges are manufactured to a factory standard — the tolerance class is shown on each individual product page.
